A fire which tore through three ambulances outside of East Surrey Hospital has been blamed on an electrical fault.
It was believed to have started in a private ambulance which was being used to bring an elderly patient to the hospital in Redhill on Monday. There was no one inside when the fire started, after oxygen cylinders explored. Fortunately, also no one was injured.
The fire then spread onto two ambulances owned by the South East Coast ambulance service which were unfortunately parked nearby. The hospital had to be temporarily closed to emergencies while the fire service quickly tackled the blaze.
